He Korero 29
20 June 2008
This issue profiles the Māori versions of the food and beverage classification system kits, new and revised immunisation resources reflecting changes to the National Immunisation Schedule, and several other new or revised items.
The Food and Beverage Classification System kits have recently been redeveloped in te reo Māori. The classification system is a tool to help early childhood services and schools with identifying healthy food and beverage options and selecting pre-prepared foods. Kōhanga, kura, and schools with immersion classes have been sent one copy of the appropriate kit and may order one more copy.
Immunise Your Children is a new video presentation aimed particularly at antenatal or parenting groups wanting to know about immunisation. It has been filmed for three audiences: general (multicultural), Māori, and Pacific. It will be available (from August 2008) as a DVD with all three versions or as three individual videos.
Two pandemic preparedness pamphlets (HE1913 and 1914) aimed at te Iwi Māori have been added to the catalogue, and an overview pamphlet on Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) (HE1919).
This issue also notes the updating of food and nutrtion resources related to babies and toddlers to reflect the revised Ministry of Health guidelines for this age group.
